This Saturday, November 24th we put the finishing touches on the murals in the girls' dorm. I am so impressed with this wonderful group of students who have the heart to commit their spare time to giving service to others.
This lovely little rose among the others was the MAIN artist and mural designer. She is one talented gal. Without hesitation she picks up pencil or brush and brings an empty surface to life.
We started this morning by moving some things off this top shelf. It WAS a moving experience, indeed, for me since the cockroaches came running out from under. These were the first roaches I'd ever seen, which my students found rather...interesting, since roaches are 'a way of life'.Our group was small this week since there was a BIG school activity going on--another service project--a fundraiser for the Blind Centre in Maseru. In addition, the girls who are residents in this dorm were away on an outing today, so it made for a peaceful time with a small group.
A very nice 'thorn' among all the roses! K.B. is one smart guy, hey! HE had all the girls to himself today and seemed to be enjoying himself.
Here's the other wall. The idea was to make a picture for each of the girls, even those on the lower bunks, so less than half of the beautiful paintings show in this picture...but the girls will enjoy looking at the rest while they're in their beds. We just weren't able to move all the beds out of the way to take a full picture, since the room is SO small.
